On September 1, 2020, the British government officially announced its departure from the European Union. The UK's own Conformity Assessment Certification Mark (UKCA) will officially begin to be used on 1 January 2021.
The UKCA mark is a new UK product mark which will be used for products sold in the UK (England, Wales and Scotland) market. It covers most goods which previously required the CE mark. The UKCA mark does not apply to goods sold on the Northern Ireland market. After the implementation of the mark, the products,originally only need CE certification ,exported to the EU and the UK will need CE and UKCA certification respectively.
What is UKCA Mark? What is the scope of application?

The UKCA mark is fully known as UK Conformity Assessed Marking, which is a new product mark introduced by the UK to replace the CE mark in the UK market.

The mark applies to products sold in the English, Welsh and Scottish markets, but not in Northern Ireland. It covers most products that previously required the CE mark.
What does the UKCA certificate cover?
The UKCA mark may be used on a certificate if:
Situation No.1
The UKCA mark is required by law and a third party conformity assessment is mandatory, and the UKCA mark will be used.
Situation No.2
The UKCA mark is required by law, but a third party conformity assessment is not mandatory and the UKCA mark will be used. Such certificates are voluntary third party Attestation of Conformity (AOC).
The specific situation of the product shall be determined by reference to the conformance assessment model stipulated in the UK regulations applicable to the corresponding product.
When will the UKCA mark come into use?
The UKCA Mark will be used in the UK from 1 January 2021.
There is no need to do any mark updates for products launched in the UK before 1 January 2021.
There will be a one-year transition period until January 1, 2022. The CE mark can still be used during the transition period. The CE mark is only valid in areas where UK and EU rules are the same. If the EU changes its rules, products bearing the CE mark under the new rules will not be will not be accepted by UK market during the transitional period.
The CE mark will not be recognized in the UK from 1 January 2022. Products bearing the CE mark will only be sold in the UK if they bear the UKCA mark and comply with the relevant UK rules, that is, if they meet both UK and EU regulations and are not covered by each other. Products are allowed to use both the CE and UKCA marks.

How to use the UKCA mark?
The conformity assessment procedure for the UKCA mark is roughly the same as that required for the CE mark. The key points to be noted are:
1) Appoint an authorized representative or director in the UK, and from 1 January 2021, the UK will no longer recognize an authorized representative or director in the EU.
2) Products bearing the UKCA mark must have a UK Doc signed by the manufacturer or their authorized representative. The information required for a UK compliance declaration (UK Doc) is essentially the same as that currently required for an EU compliance declaration (EU Doc). The difference is that a UK compliance DoC should list UK regulations rather than EU regulations; Use the UK specified standard (BS standard) rather than the standard quoted in the EU OJ. 3)The UKCA mark has transitional measures, and the UKCA mark can be optionally attached to products or accompanying documents until 1 January 2023. From 1 January 2023, the UKCA mark must, in most cases, be affixed directly to products.
4) The information required for the UK declaration of conformity is essentially the same as that currently required for the EU declaration of conformity. In the future ,this may vary depending on the applicable regulations, but should normally include:
- The name and address of the manufacturer (or its authorized representative);
- Product serial number, model or type identification;
- Statement. State that you are fully responsible for product compliance;
- Details of the body that carries out the conformity assessment procedure (if applicable);
- Products conform to relevant laws and regulations;
- Your name and signature;
- The date of issuance of the declaration;
- Supplementary Information (if applicable)

The use rules for UKCA mark are as follows. The user must ensure that:
- If the size of the mark is to be reduced or enlarged, the letters of the UKCA mark must be scaled in proportion to the styles above;
- UKCA mark height should be at least 5mm (unless other minimum sizes are required by individual laws and regulations);
- The UKCA mark is clearly visible (it must be clearly visible and permanent from 1 January 2023).
