THE HIGH-BAY BLIND SPOT
A bright floor does not always make a bright-feeling space.
Traditional high bays concentrate almost all their light below the luminaire. The work plane can meet the target while the ceiling and upper field of view remain dark, creating a strong visual separation across the room.

The upward component is deliberately modest. It is not designed to compete with the downlight, but to soften the dark upper field and make the whole interior easier to perceive.

Approximately 90% of the light remains directed downward, keeping the work plane at the center of the design. The remaining 10% is sent upward in a wide, soft distribution to gently brighten light-colored ceilings and surrounding upper surfaces.

WHY THE SPACE FEELS BRIGHTER
The eye judges the room, not only the work plane.
Lux on the work plane describes light arriving at a surface, but people judge a room from the luminance of the surfaces around them. When the ceiling and upper walls are very dark, the eye sees a strong contrast and the space can feel enclosed, even with adequate task illumination. Soft upward light raises surrounding luminance, smooths the brightness distribution and helps the entire space feel more open, balanced and visually comfortable.
