How do the LED street lights turn on

Did you notice that LED street lights turn on automatically when darkness falls and off during the day? 

LED street lights can be turned on or off with the help of sensors, timers, and smart lighting control systems. One common sensor is the cadmium sulfide photo-resistor, which changes its resistance based on the amount of light that hits it. When the light level is low, the photo-resistor becomes a poor conductor of electricity and activates a relay that turns on the LED light. When the light level is high, the photo-resistor becomes a good conductor of electricity and deactivates the relay that turns off the LED light. Sensors usually work with timer and intelligent controls to turn on/off and dim the street lights automatically. Timer dimming allows the street lights to be automatically dimmed at certain times of the day or night, based on a predefined schedule or an astro-clock. Smart control systems allow the street lights to be remotely monitored and controlled through a central management software or a remote controller.
